A winter coat built around a thick fleece lining, with a waterproof outer shell to keep the weather out. The cut is loose rather than fitted, so it layers over a knit without pulling across the shoulders.
The hood is detachable and windproof, which makes it two coats really — hood on for the worst of it, hood off for town. Patch pockets and conventional cuffs finish it.
